November 11th is the Independence Day in Poland. We celebrate regaining of independence after 123 years of partitions. Kraków and rest of Poland is dressed in white and red this day.
Poland lost independence at the end of the XVIII century. Neigbouring powers - Russian, Prussian and Austrian empires divided country between them. In XIX century Kraków, former capitol of Poland, full of historic mementos, place of royal coronations and funerals, plays very important role in maintaining national identity. It is also first Polish city liberated in 1918. Independace Day is always celabrated with pride and joy.
